One-way self-expanding rod for early-onset scoliosis: early results of a clinical trial of 20 patients

چکیده
Progressive early-onset scoliosis raises major challenges for surgeons, as growth must be preserved. With traditional growing rods, the need repeated surgery is associated with numerous complications, high costs, and heavy psychosocial burden on patient family. We assessed safety efficacy of a new one-way self-expanding rod (OWSER). This prospective single-centre phase 2 study included two groups children progressive EOS treated by OWSER in 2016–2017: Ten received unilateral construct to treat non-neuromuscular curves 10 others bilateral neuromuscular scoliosis. Clinical radiological data were at 3, 6, 12, 18 months later. The primary endpoint was success defined absence 12 months. In group, expansion occurred 5 patients [95% CI 19–81]; five other patients, rotational conflict inside domino prevented expansion, four them required within first Rod spontaneously during monthly traction sessions all 69–100], without mechanical or device-related complications. Residual pelvic obliquity improved ?3° [??6.0 9.5] 18 months. Lung function group. diseases, seems safe less aggressive. Used it effective. Accordingly, we recommend aetiologies. That device could avoid further reduce rate complications after long follow-up.

Growing rod instrumentation in the treatment of early onset scoliosis.
The goal of the treatment of early onset scoliosis (EOS) is correction of the deformity while still allowing for spinal growth. The aim of this study was to determine the safety and effectiveness of the single and dual growing rod techniques and which technique was the most effective in the management of EOS respectively. From 2003 to 2009, 23 patients underwent single (15) or dual (8) growing ...
متن کاملEffect of Early Mobilization on Hemodynamic Parameters of Patients Undergoing Sleeve Gastrectomy; A Randomized Clinical Trial
Aims: Today, due to the failure of non-surgical methods in the treatment of obesity, surgical procedures such as sleeve gastrocetomy are used. Similar to other invasive interventions, sleeve gastrectomy causes an imbalance in hemodynamic parameters. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of early mobilization on hemodynamic parameters in patients undergoing sleeve gastrectomy. Mater...
متن کاملGrowing rod analysis for the fusionless correction of Early Onset Scoliosis (EOS)
Introduction Managing spinal deformities in young children is challenging, particularly early onset scoliosis (EOS). Surgical intervention is often required if EOS has been unresponsive to conservative treatment particularly with rapidly progressive curves. An emerging treatment option for EOS is fusionless scoliosis surgery. Similar to bracing, this surgical option potentially harnesses growth...

Radiation induced sarcoma is a rare but recognized complication of radiotherapy and is associated with poor prognosis, frequently occurs 5 years after completion of treatment. We report radiation-induced sarcoma in a 42 years old male, involving the left parietooccipital scalp region following treatment of brain tumor with craniotomy and post-operative radiation with 60Co machine. Diagnosis of ...
